The print depicts a pair of ducks nestled among wind-blown reeds and grasses, printed in ink with soft touches of color on the birds' heads and a graded wash suggesting distant misty hills.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eShotei trained under Kikuchi Yōsai and briefly with lacquer master Shibata Zeshin before becoming, in 1878, the first Nihonga-trained artist to live and study in Europe, where his work won a medal at the Paris International Exposition.
