The face presents a richly engraved composition of Mount Fuji rising through clouds with radiating sunburst behind, framed by cherry blossom sprays — the defining icons of the Japanese nation — printed in multicolor with a red seal of the Finance Ministry (大蔵省) at left. The serial number 1372 appears in red. The reverse is printed in olive green with 五拾銭 (50 Sen) in large characters within a decorative guilloche border.
