Antique Japanese (c1900) 3 Tiered Round Imari Kasane Jubako Turtles & Cranes
Antique Japanese (c1900) 3 Tiered Round Imari Kasane Jubako Turtles & Cranes
This is an antique Japanese three level round food box known as a Jubako made of ceramic in the Meiji Era (c. 1900). All three levels nest together along with a lid which is fitted to rest nicely on the top. It is covered in printed transfer Imari blue and white and features tiny baby turtles on the sides and a family of cranes on the lid. There is a visible crack on the lid that has been repaired a long time ago. It has been used lovingly and stored for over a century, it still remains in good condition. With all three stacked it measures 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 " square by 7" tall (11.5 x 11.5 x 17.5cm). A great storage idea or useful for party food
