Antique Japanese Edo Era (C 1700) Warehouse Door Forged Iron & Zelkova Wood
This is a Japanese warehouse door from the mid Edo era (c.1700). It is made of solid zelkova wood with forged iron fittings. It would have once been used as the entry to a large stone family warehouse. The top section is latticed to allow ventilation into the warehouse. Toward the bottom is a locking mechanism that secured the warehouse. It still has its original wheeled base (see picture 11).
With exception to minor signs of past use, minor water stains, and an aged patina, this very complete warehouse door remains in overall very good condition. It measure 6' tall by 50" wide by 2 1/2" thick (184 x 126 x 6.5 cm) and weighs 100 pounds.
sailerking has an additional 10 warehouse doors in our inventory. Pictures available upon request.
