This is an antique Japanese Edo era mid 1800’s Imari ceramic bowl. It’s all hand painted with the traditional legendary figures of Jo & Uba watching the rising sun. They are symbols of strength, longevity and fidelity. The Japanese cranes on the outside have a similar symbolic meaning. Formed with a double foot which is seen less often in Japanese Imari
Made of high fired ceramic for long term strength and durability in a traditional wood fired kiln. A collectible art piece or even an elegant serving bowl.
