Antique Japanese Mokugyo Buddhist Drum 12"H

This is an antique Japanese Mokugyo from the early to mid 20th century. Used as a  Buddhist and Zen temple drum. Hand carved and made from one piece of keyaki or Japanse elm. There flowing calligraphy carved on one side and Considering that most mokugyo found for sale are 3" to 5" this is an especially large one. There are several areas where the wood has been worn or chipped but it a beautiful and fully functional drum.

It is approximately 12" x 11" x 10" and weighs in at 5lbs 12oz
