Antique Japanese Taisho Era (c1920’s) Chadansu Tea Tansu 9 Drawer 26"W
This is an antique Japanese Taisho era (1912-1926) Chadansu (tea chest). Used for storing documents, money and other precious items it is made throughout of solid Kiri wood (paulownia). Chadansu chests were a special piece used to store one's most valued tea ceremony accessories. There are 9 drawers and 3 cabinets, with both sliding doors and a lift panel.

This chest was well used and well loved and has a warm aged patina. It remains in fine antique condition and should serve well for another century or more of use. A great piece of Japanese history and an interesting and very solid and functional piece of furniture.
