Antique Meiji Era (Early 1900'S) Japanese Hand Crank Massager Zelkova Wood
Antique Meiji Era (Early 1900'S) Japanese Hand Crank Massager Zelkova Wood
This is an antique hand crank vibrating massager made by (translation upcoming) in the early 1900's. It is made of a durable and beautiful keyaki (zlekova) wood with a hand rubbed kijiro (natural lacquer) finish. It comes apart using wooden threads (see pictures 7 -9). It still cranks easily and the vibrating head gives a nice massage. The copper name plate is still readable with name of the company and a registered patent number 25013
It measures 11" long (28 cm) with a head diameter of 2 3/4" (7 cm). Having been in storage for nearly a century, with exception to some minor oxidation on the crank and minor signs of past use it remains in very fine working condition.
