Antique Japanese Blue & White Octagonal Landscape Plate, 10"W
Japan, late Edo to early Meiji period.
Hand-painted porcelain plate with an octagonal form and a deeply detailed blue-and-white landscape: a riverside village with figures, pavilions, rocky outcrops, and distant mountains rendered in rich cobalt tones. The broad border features dragons among clouds with geometric corner reserves, a motif seen on mid-19th-century Japanese wares produced in the Arita/Imari region for both domestic and export markets.
The reverse is decorated with simple ribbon-knot motifs in underglaze blue, a trait associated with Japanese workshop decoration of the period.
Dimensions: 10"W
Shows expected kiln specks, minor firing imperfections, and light age wear consistent with Edo–Meiji hand-painted porcelain.
