Japanese Set Of 5 Dark Wood Grain Hand Painted Maple Lacquer Small Plates 6"

This is a set of five Japanese lacquer plates sometimes refered to as called chataku that are hand turned from sugi (cryptomeria) wood with over twenty layers of dark clear lacquer. Japanese lacquer is considered the finest in the world.Each chataku is pictured above so the unique wood grain in each can be appreciated in close up. Each plate has a unique hand painted scattering of maple leaves in red, gold,silver and black. no two are alike. A unique way to serve small dishes to guests!

They are all in Fine conditioning and in good polish. Each coaster measures 6" (15 cm) in diameter and 1/4" (1 cm) tall.
