Artwork Metalwork - Iron, Bronze, Brass, etc. Teaware & Chado Tetsubin & Kettles Vintage Japanese Collectibles
This vintage mid Show era (c. 1950) Japanese cast iron Kama (tea kettle) was utilized in the Japanese formal chado (tea ceremony) to heat water. It is made of a thick heavy cast iron and the lid to the kama is made of bronze with a nice bud blossom finial. It has side rings and a simple "raised circle" design wrapped around.
This furogama is 15" (38 cm) tall to the top of the finial on its lid and approximately 13" (33 cm) in diameter. Having been stored away for nearly a century it remains in excellent condition and shows little to no wear inside and out.
