This is a vintage Japanese sugar bowl by Chugai China, made in occupied Japan, is adorned with intricate hand-painted details, including the Japanese bush warbler (uguisu) and maple leaves (momiji).
The lid is adorned with a black and gold trim, reminiscent of traditional Japanese lacquerware (urushi), adding a touch of sophistication and cultural richness. The gracefully curved handles embody Japanese craftsmanship, making this both functional and decorative.
This sugar bowl, made during the period of occupied Japan, is a wonderful collector’s item that carries both historical and cultural significance. It is in good condition with one small chip located on the lid and is photographed.
