Vintage Japanese Hand Painted Maple Leaf & Bird Creamer
Vintage Japanese Hand Painted Maple Leaf & Bird Creamer
This vintage creamer, by Chugai China, made in occupied Japan, is adorned with intricate hand-painted details, a bird much like the Japanese bush warbler (uguisu) and maple leaves (momiji).
The top is trimmed with a black and gold motif, reminiscent of traditional Japanese lacquerware (urushi), adding a touch of sophistication and cultural richness. The gracefully curved handle and spout embody the elegance of Japanese craftsmanship, making this both functional and decorative.
Made during the period of occupied Japan during the late 1940’s, a wonderful collector’s item that carries both historical and cultural significance. This creamer is in excellent condition with no visible chips or cracks.
