This is a vintage Japanese teacup and saucer set by Chugai China, made in occupied Japan. They are adorned with intricate hand-painted details, including the Japanese bush warbler (uguisu), maple leaves (momiji), and finished with a black and gold trim, reminiscent of traditional Japanese lacquerware (urushi) -a touch of sophistication and cultural richness. The gracefully curved handle and scalloped rim of the cup and plate embody Japanese craftsmanship, making these both functional and decorative.
This teacup and saucer set, made during the period of occupied Japan in the 1940’s, are wonderful collector’s items that carry both historical and cultural significance. They are in excellent condition without visible chips or cracks.
