Vintage Japanese Early Showa Tea Chataku Black Lacquer Sencha Plate Coaster
These tea Chataku are sold individually. We start with eight available. They are most like from the 1930's or 1940's. High sheen polished black lacquer over turned cryptomeria wood. Japanese lacquer is considered the finest in the world. This type of plate was often used as s saucer or coaster for Sencha tea cups (see picture #2) but could easily be used for a sake Guimono or Ochoko (see pictures 3 and 4).
Having been in storage for many decades, with exception to minor signs of use on a few edges these plates remains in good condition and are in good polish. Each bowl measures 4 1/2" in diameter by 1 1/8" tall with lid (11.5 x 3 cm).
