This is an antique early Meiji Era (c.1870) Japanese Imari ceramic plate with a combination of hand painted design as well as stencil print of three Chinese nobles sitting under a giant peony blossom. The bottom displays the older Edo era method of kiln footing that leaves several small dots (see pictures 8 & 9).
It measures 11 1/2" 10 1/2" and is 2" tall (29 x 27 x 5 cm). Having been in storage for over 150 years, with exception to ne very small cip on the underside (see picture 10) it remains in very good condition. A great size for serving something very special.
