Antique Japanese (C. 1890) Lacquer Kashizara Appetizer Dish Plate Makie Floral

This is an antique Japanese mid Meiji Era (c. 1890) lacquer kashizara (appetizer plate) made of hand lathe turned cryptomeria wood with over twenty layers of dark brown lacquer. The artwork in the center is makie (raised gold lacquer) depicting flowers in various stages of bloom.

Having been in storage for over 100 years, with exception of a few areas of minor wear (see picture 11), this kashizara remains in fine condition throughout and is in good polish. Measures 8 1/2" in diameter by 1" tall(22 x 2.5 cm).
