his is an antique set of 5 Japanese mid Taisho Era (c. 1920) lacquer kashizara (appetizer plate) made of hand turned cryptomeria wood with over twenty layers of Japanse kijiro (natural) lacquer. Each plate then has a hand painted fruit or vegetable (egg plant turnip etc). The artwork is hand painted lacquer with a silver rim around the fruits (see closeup). Having been in storage for over 80 years, this kashizara set of 5 remains in fine condition throughout and is in good polish with only minor signs of past use. Each plate measures 5 3/4" in diameter by 3/4" tall(14.5 x 2 cm). Each dish has its own unique hand painted lacquer art work.
