Antique Chinese Qing 150 Year Old Famille Rose Jar Enameled Peony 7"X9"
This is a 150 year old antique Chinese colorfully enameled jar from the late Qing Dynasty. Recently acquired by from a local collector who lived and traveled all over Asia in the 1960's picking up treasures along the way. It is hand thrown and all hand colored. Decorated with peony flowers, leaves, birds and other designs. These jars very often did not have lids or shared lids with other containers when in use. There is no lid included here. The foot and lip are unglazed. Having been carefully displayed at an estate for the past 50 years this jar remains in fine condition. No hairlines are detected. There is an irregularity in the glaze at the edge of the mouth that has been there since it was first made. Some wear is visible on the glaze including fine scratches and pitting. There are normal kiln flaws to be expected with these containers like dark spots from kiln ash, smudged colors and pinhole reserves in the glaze. The jar measure approximately 7" tall and 9" in diameter (18 x 23 cm). An elegant piece of history that's both highly collectible and quite decorative.
