Antique Chinese Qing 19Th Century Blue & White Jar Double Happiness 3.25"
This is a 19th century antique Chinese jar from the Qing Dynasty, mid to late 19th century. Recently acquired by from a local collector who lived and traveled all over Asia in the 1960's picking up treasures along the way. It is hand thrown and all hand painted in the classic cobalt underglaze. Decorated with the Double Happiness and flower motif. The foot and mouth are unglazed. Having been carefully displayed at an estate for the past 50 years this jar remains in fine condition. No hairlines are detected other than a shallow one shown in picture #8 that does not go though to the inside . Some wear is visible around the mouth and discoloration from early decades of use. There are normal kiln flaws to be expected with these containers like dark spots from kiln ash, smudged paint and pinhole reserves in the glaze.
The jar measure approximately 3 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter (8.25 x 8.25 cm). A beautiful and elegant piece of history that's both highly collectible and quite decorative. The wooden lid is very likely not to this vase. Let us know if you would like to view the dozens of other jars from this collection.
