Antique Chinese c1920 Bridge Handle Tea Pot Cobalt Blue & White Hand Painted
This is an antique Chinese tea pot from the late Qing or early Republic period (c 1920). The form of the handle is called a "Bridge" handle. All hand painted in cobalt blue. Decorated in a popular motif from the Qing period. The foot and mouth are unglazed while the interior is fully glazed.
Bottom is stamped with the Jian Ding government export approval seal indicating that it was permitted to be exported. In this case the seal was given in Shanghai. If it were an item from 1795 or earlier it should not receive this export seal.
The tea pot measure approximately 5 1/2" tall and 5" in diameter (14 x 12.5 cm). A simple and elegant piece of history that's both collectible and quite usable.
