This exquisite piece of 100+ year old antique Japanese hand woven cotton fabric features a stencil dyed cotton 5 panel fabric created using the traditional katazome dyeing technique. Katazome is a Japanese method of dyeing fabrics using a rice flour resist paste applied through a stencil carved from mulberry paper. This fabric, which was probably once used as a kakebuton (a kind of bed spread) showcases chrysanthemum floral patterns rendered in an indigo dye.

Perfect for collectors of Japanese textiles or those seeking a unique decorative piece, this fabric embodies the artistry and cultural heritage of Japan.
