It was made of all Sugi wood (cryptomeria) in the tradition of old Japanese craftsmanship including wooden pins to secure the box together. This box has a lid and two compartments.
Having been used lovingly and in storage for over a century, along with a warm aged patina this antique storage box remains in good condition. It measures 10" wide by 5 1/8" deep by 9 1/4" tall (25.5 x 13 x 23 cm). Each compartment measures about 4 1/2" square.Beautiful wood grain in this Japanese cedar. A great piece of Japanese history with a wonderful warm aged patina.
