Antique Japanese Hand Lathe Turned Lacquered Kogo Incence Holder Tea Ceramony

This is an antique Japanese late Taisho Era (c. 1920) lacquer Kogo (incense holder) made of hand turned cryptomeria wood with over twenty layers of red and black lacquer. Japanese lacquer from the this era was considered the finest ever made.

Having been in storage for over a century , with exception to some minor signs of past use, this kogo remains in very fine condition throughout and is in good polish. Measures 2 1/8" in diameter by 1 1/4" tall (5.3 x 3 cm).
