Antique Japanese Hinanigyo Girls Day Black And Gold Lacquered Palanquin

This is an antique Japanese early Showa Era (c. 1930's) palanquin for a Hinanigyo girls day doll set.  It would have represented the decorative litter used to transport a princess. It is made of cryptomeria wood with layers of black lacquer and a final decorative hand painted maikie (raised gold lacquer). It comes on a wooden stand and risers as well as two benches all of which have the same decorative raised gold lacquer.

Having been in storage for over 90 years, it remains in very good condition. He measures about 12" long (across the carrying beams) by 5 1/2" tall (30 x 14 cm). One of the legs of the two benches has a broken footing (see picture 8).  Otherwise in perfect condition.
