Antique Japanese Kitchen Choba Tansu Meiji Era c1880's Hinoki Sugi Chest 62"

This is a beauty with a natural wood finish. This mid Meiji era c1880's Chobadansu  or document chest has all the original ten drawers (including two behind the safe) and two cabinet spaces behind sliding doors. The whole chest is divided into two sections making it very versatile (38.5"H + 24"H). Much of the front is Hinoki or Japanese cypress. The interior is all Sugi - Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria). Hand forged iron hardware.
