This is a antique late Meiji era (c. 1890) Japanese Tokkuri (sake bottle). It is made of ceramic fired at high temperatures for lasting durability. It has a nice design in a rich dark brown glaze and a rim of blue at the top. The opening at the top has been shaped to form a little bit of a spout to aid in pouring. With exception to minor signs of use, this sake bottle remains in fine condition. It measures 3 1/4" in diameter at the bottom (8.5 cm), the opening on the top 2 1/4" at maximum width (5.5 cm), by 10 1/2" tall (27 cm). It weighs 1lb 6.6 oz.
