This is a antique late Meiji era (c. 1900) Japanese Tokkuri (sake bottle). It is made of ceramic fired at high temperatures for lasting durability. It has a nice design in a rich dark brown glaze and a rim of blue at the top. The opening at the top has been shaped to form a little bit of a spout to aid in pouring. With exception to minor signs of use, this sake bottle remains in fine condition. It measures 2 1/2" ( 6 cm)in diameter at the bottom, the opening on the top 2 3/4" at maximum width (7 cm), by 5 1/2" tall (14 cm). It weighs 8.6 oz.
