This is an antique Japanese set of cups called Sobachoko (そば猪口) dating back probably to the mid to late Meiji Era (c. 1890). Typically used for drinking cold sake these days it may also be used as dipping bowl for noodle, hold sauce or spices and otherwise a nice all purpose item for food service. Made of a high fire ceramic for lasting durability. It has a hand painted crane with flowers and traditional geometric patterns and golden and design in blue, red and gold outside and blue inside. Might also be called a "guinomi" but may be considered by some too large for that name. This listing is for the pair of matching

They measure 3" in diameter by 2 1/2" tall (7.5 x 6 cm). It remains in very fine condition.
