Antique Japanese Meij Era c1880's Imari Signed Sake Cup Sobachoko Ceramic
This is an antique Japanese cup called a Sobachoko (dating back probably to the mid Meiji Era (c1880's). Typically used for drinking cold sake these days it may also be used as dipping bowl for noodle, hold sauce or spices and otherwise an nice all purpose items for food service. Made of a high fire ceramic for lasting durability. It has all hand painted design and artist signature. Might also be called a "guinomi" but may be considered by some too large for that name.
We have two of these available. This listing is for one cup, please add the second one to your cart to purchase both. See the last three pictures for the pair.
This bowl measures 3 3/8" in diameter by 2 5/8" tall (8.5 x 6.5 cm). It remains in very fine condition.
