This is an antique Japanese cup called a Sobachoko (dating back probably to the mid to late Meiji Era (c. 1900). Typically used for drinking cold sake these days it may also be used as dipping bowl for noodle, hold sauce or spices and otherwise an nice all purpose items for food service. Made of a high fire ceramic for lasting durability. It has a stenciled and hand painted design and artist signature. Might also be called a "guinomi" but may be considered by some too large for that name.
This bowl measures 3 3/8" in diameter by 2 5/8" tall (8.5 x 6.5 cm). It remains in very fine condition.
