Antique Japanese Meiji (C1880) Imari Ceramic Hand Painted Bowl Butterflies 11"

This is an antique Japanese Meiji Era (c. 1910) imari ceramic bowl with a hand painted design of flowers and butterflies. The bowl is made with high fired ceramics for lasting durability. Please enjoy the closeup photos to admire the finely painted details in deep orange, cobalt blue and bright gold.

This plate measures 10 3/4" in diameter by 3 1/2" tall (27 x 9 cm). Having been in storage and carefully displayed for the past century this beautiful piece of imari remains in fine condition. The dark spot shown in picture 8 was part of the firing process when kiln ash came in contact with the glaze, a "flaw" that helps show the age and authenticity.
