Antique Japanese Meiji Era Brown & Gold Lacquer Obon Ozen Tray Table 11"
This is an antique Japanese Meiji Era serving tray, Ozen. It would have been used to serve tea or small appetizers. It has curved merged legs to raise it above the tatami floor where it was used as a small individual table (ozen). It is made of cryptomeria wood with over 20 coats of Japanese brown lacquer. Having been used lovingly, this tray has dents, scratches and separations consistent with its age. Split lacquer midway up each leg and is in pics 2-8,11 and 12. It remains overall in good condition. Sits squarely. Smaller than most this tray measures almost 11" square by 6 3/4" tall (28 x 17 cm). A very elegant and functional piece of art to display your treasures. NOTE other items shown in the photos are not included.
