Antique Japanese Meiji Era (C. 1910) Hakari Tenbin Balance Scale Weight
Antique Japanese Meiji Era (C. 1910) Hakari Tenbin Balance Scale Weight
This is an antique Japanese balance scale (hakari) weight dating to the late Meiji Era (c. 1910). It has Japanese writing on oneside ( see picture 4) and actual weight 376 g or 13.2 ounces. It is bell shaped with a lanyard ring at the top to adjust up and down a pole scale. Seen in the last picture is a bar or pole scale (not included) similar to the one which would have originally been used a similar weight.
Having been in storage over 100 years, with exception to some minor stains and a nice warm-aged patina, it remains in very good functional condition. This bell scale measures 2 1/4" high (6 cm). by 4 cm (1 1/2") in diameter.
Please note: The bar scale seen in the last picture is NOT included in this listing but can be seen in a current or upcoming sailerking listing.
