Antique Japanese Meiji Era Kutani Imari Ceramic Chawan Lidded Bowl

This is an antique Japanese Meiji Era (c. 1890) imari ceramic lidded bowl. It is hand painted with a decorative motif on both the bowl and lid in multi colors. This lidded bowl is made with high fired ceramics for lasting durability. It has a signature of the artist on the lid, Kutani (see picture 7). The bowl measures 4 1/4" in diameter by about 3" tall with the lid (11 x 7.5 cm). Having been well cared for and in storage for most of the past century it remains in very fine condition.
