This high quality professional grade Japanese blade was made for a kanna plane, the mainstay of the Japanese daikusan (carpenter) c. 1950's. It was made by a Japanese master blade maker of laminated hand forged steel with the same process as is used to make traditional Japanese samurai swoTThis is a Meiji era c1868-1912 Japanese kanna plane blade that is ready to us. This is SHARP enough to shave with! Fully restored and professionally sharpened to a very fine edge it is ready to fit into a block and use. Made of Tamahagane (玉鋼) iron sand steel with the hardest steel at the cutting edge.
The overall blade measures 2 7/8" (74mm) wide and 4 1/4" (108mm) long. The cutting edge is approximately 2.5" (65mm) wide. Old world craftsmanship for the new world craftsman!
