This is an antique Japanese early 1900's bronze Usubata (flower vase). This vase was used in a butsudan (Buddhist family shrine) to offer flowers. It is made of bronze and is decorated with etched desing of a crane in flight and mountains. This vase measures 11" wide at the fluted top and 10" tall. It has some oxidation that is an indication of age.
It has a strong tri-pod footing. The large top part easily separates from the lower vase. Typically the top is taken to a place where flowers are arranged and then taken to the tokonoma where the base awaits.
A beautiful way to display any kind of flower arrangement a great stand alone piece of bronze artwork
