Antique Japanese Wooden Mokugyo Buddhist Drum 16"H

This is an antique Japanese Mokugyo from the early to mid 20th century. Used as a  Buddhist and Zen temple drum. Hand carved and made from one piece of keyaki or Japanse elm. There is flowing calligraphy carved on the front additional writing on the back. Considering that most mokugyo found for sale are seldom larger that 5" this is an especially large one.

There drum is in very good condition with very few marks or scuffs. It a beautiful and fully functional drum. Cushion and fabric covered striker inluded.  

It is approximately 16" x 13" x 12" and weighs in at 11lbs 2oz
