ANTIQUE MEIJI ERA (c1880) JAPANESE BRONZE Aloy & Painted BAMBOO KISERU Smoke Pipe 8"

This is an antique Japanese kiseru (煙管) from the mid Meiji Era (c. 1880).  It has a Bonze alloy hexagonal mouth piece and e bowl with a 3.5'bamboo center decorated in painted concentric circles. This reed stalk has a knot node in its bamboo length, capped with warm centuries old patina, this kiseru has a good draw and is still very functional.  

This 140 plus year old antique kiseru measures 8" (20.5 cm) long. It has been well used, yet well loved. This kiseru remains in very good (functional) condition.  A nice, compact, very functional antique kiseru.
