A globular snuff bottle in warm amber-toned glass, interior-painted (nei hua) with a polychrome bird-and-flower composition: a long-tailed bird perches among red-leafed branches alongside chrysanthemum and peony, rendered against the glowing amber ground in ink and mineral pigments. The reverse carries a complementary landscape with flowering branches and a second bird among rocks. Stopped with a blue glass cabochon stopper on a metal-wrapped collar. The interior spoon is broken.

Interior painting on glass is a technically demanding Chinese art form requiring the artist to work through the narrow bottle neck with bent brushes, painting in reverse. Amber glass grounds are less common than clear or frosted, and the warm tone lends particular luminosity to the polychrome composition.
