Chinese Green Glazed Miniature Pottery Jar Molded Dragon Relief Archaistic Floral Stamp 1 Inch

A compelling miniature Chinese pottery jar in the archaistic tradition, the squat globular body covered in a richly variegated green lead glaze ranging from bright olive to deep brown-amber where the glaze has pooled and reduced over the molded relief surface. The body carries an applied and molded mythological dragon or chimera in vigorous relief, its sinuous form encircling the shoulder amid swirling cloud scrolls — the modeling bold and energetic despite the diminutive scale. A second applied relief figure or scroll element appears on the reverse. The short everted neck retains a beaded collar detail. The buff stoneware paste is visible at the unglazed foot rim, which bears an impressed floral rosette stamp within a recessed ring. The overall surface shows deliberate antiquing — pitting, encrustation, and glaze variation — in conscious emulation of Han and Tang dynasty green-glazed earthenwares.

Dimensions: approximately 1"H (2.5 cm) Weight: [placeholder]

Archaistic green-glazed miniature wares of this type were produced throughout the 20th century for the scholar's desk and collector's cabinet, drawing on the long Chinese tradition of reverence for antiquity. At this scale the modeling quality is remarkable.

Condition: Very good; glaze intact with intentional age-consistent surface variation. Small chip to neck rim visible in image 1. No cracks.

A richly surfaced miniature — the dragon relief and variegated green glaze make this an unusually characterful example of 20th century Chinese archaistic pottery at the smallest scale.
