Chinese Jingdezhen (景德鎮) celadon and polychrome porcelain vase, 秋聲 (Sounds of Autumn) — monkeys in pine, persimmon harvest, blue-and-white lotus panel, signed and certified by Senior Arts & Crafts Master Hu Wenfeng (胡文峰), dated 2007

China, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi; dated 丁亥年秋 (Autumn 2007)

A large Jingdezhen porcelain vase of compressed globular form with a wide everted mouth, the shoulder and lower register washed in a soft crackled celadon glaze, the broad central body presenting three distinct decorated panels that together constitute the work titled 秋聲 (Qiū Shēng — "Sounds of Autumn") — a meditation on the sensory richness of the autumn season rendered across three compositional modes in a technically ambitious combination of polychrome enamel, underglaze blue, and celadon ground.

The primary face presents two golden-brown monkeys (猴, hóu) in a gnarled pine tree against a mountainous misty landscape, painted in polychrome enamel with extraordinary attention to fur texture — individual hairs delineated in fine brushwork over warm brown washes, the pine needles rendered in dark green clusters with careful ink-line structure. The composition is inscribed with the title 秋聲 and a colophon in running script, followed by two red seals of the artist. The second panel, set within a hexagonal white reserve against the celadon ground, carries an underglaze cobalt blue lotus scroll of bold and confident brushwork — the deep saturated blue of the lotus blooms and tendrils reading with great visual force against both the white reserve and the surrounding celadon — a deliberate technical contrast that demonstrates the artist's command of multiple decorative modes within a single object. The third face presents an autumn harvest scene of exceptional warmth and delicacy: ripe persimmons (柿子) tumbling from a woven straw basket in shades of orange-red and gold, accompanied by yellow chrysanthemum and green leaves — the persimmon being one of the primary auspicious symbols of autumn, associated with joy, longevity, and the abundance of the harvest season.

Hu Wenfeng (胡文峰), working under the art name Wenjun (文珺), holds the title of 高级工艺美术师 (Senior Arts & Crafts Master) — a formal state designation within the Chinese national ceramics credentialing system. A graduate of the Fine Arts department of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, she is a member of the China Artists Association and currently teaches at the Jiangxi Ceramic Arts Institute. Her work 《和谐清韵》 — a series of 200 flower-and-bird vases — won the Gold Prize at the 9th Shanghai International Arts Festival Chinese Arts & Crafts Masters Exhibition in 2007, the same year this vase was created. Her work is published in the Jingdezhen Porcelain Complete Collection and the Jingdezhen Porcelain centenary collector's edition. The piece is accompanied by its original 收藏证书 (Collector's Certificate) in a decorative red-bound folder, signed with the artist's art name 文珺 and bearing the issuing authority seal.
