Antique Japanese Boxwood Netsuke Fukurokuju Seven Lucky Gods Scroll Figure

Fukurokuju, the god of wisdom and longevity, seated and absorbed in his scroll — the one said to contain all the knowledge in the world. Beautifully carved in boxwood, the grain and age of the wood showing through in that rich dark honey tone you only get with time. One of the Seven Lucky Gods, originally imported from China, and one of the more compelling subjects in the netsuke canon.
