This is a vintage Japanese hand painted scroll on silk with silk brocade borders. Made during the 18th of 19th century Edo Era. 

The subject of this is renowned samurai warrior Minamoto no Yoshiie (1039-1106) from the late Heian period, often referred to as Hachimantaro.
