Japanese Ceramic Hot Pot Donabe For Nabe Shabu Sukiyaki Spiral Pattern 6.5"
This is a vintage Japanese clay hot pot called a Donabe for cooking and serving traditional Japanese soup dishes. This is a single serving pot but the same principals apply. Typically the ingredients are cooked in the pot on a hotplate at the table. The guests take turns around the table cooking different vegetables and meat in the broth. This little pot can be used for individual soups. The pot has a traditional exposed clay with a thin ribbon of brown glaze in a spiral around the whole . The interior is a lovely gray crackle glaze which shows off the orange burn where the glaze met the clay during firing. This pot was used but is in verry good condition.
This is the large kind of hot pot, grate for serving a single guest and measures 6.5" in diameter and 3" high.
