Vintage Japanese Bronze Waterfowl Bunchin Paperweight
A finely cast vintage Japanese bronze bunchin (paperweight) in the form of a resting waterfowl, likely a duck or goose. Elegantly modeled with clean, flowing lines and crisply defined feathers, the sculpture captures the quiet simplicity and refined craftsmanship characteristic of traditional Japanese scholar's desk objects.
Originally intended to hold paper in place during calligraphy or painting, bronze bunchin were prized not only for their utility but also for their artistic presence.
