Japanese Cylindrical Stoneware Vase with Mottled Blue Flambe Glaze Japan, 20th century 3.35" dia. × 12" H (9 cm × 30 cm)
A well-potted cylindrical vase in dense stoneware, covered in a deep reduction-fired blue glaze that moves from near-black indigo at the base through rich cobalt to a mottled periwinkle and slate blue at the shoulder. The glaze surface shows the characteristic vertical streaking and light mottling of a high-iron blue flambe firing, with pale lavender-grey pooling where the glaze thickened. The slightly tapered profile and clean unglazed foot give the piece a quiet, architectural quality in the Jun ware (鈞窯) aesthetic tradition. An impressed mark is visible on the base. A versatile display vase — the glaze holds depth and color shift across different lighting conditions.
Condition: Excellent. No chips or cracks.
