A handmade chawan (抹茶碗) in the beni tengu (紅天狗) style of Mino ware, the rounded form covered in a deeply saturated crimson-red glaze with amber and dark brown streaking throughout, pooling and shifting across the surface in the manner of a high-fire flambe effect. The interior carries the same rich red, darkening toward the base. The foot is unglazed pale stoneware. The hand-formed rim has a gentle organic irregularity. Made in Japan. New, unused.
