A handmade chawan (抹茶碗) in the koku-yu kinsai (黒釉金彩) style of Mino ware, the straight-sided cylindrical form covered in a deep, glossy black tenmoku glaze with horizontal brushed gold kinsai decoration sweeping across the exterior. The interior is a rich, unadorned black. The foot is unglazed pale stoneware. The hand-formed rim has a subtle organic irregularity. Made in Japan. New, unused.
