Japanese Orin Bronze Singing Bowl Buddhist Alter Meditation Zazen 15”

This is a vintage Japanese mid Showa Era (c. 1940's/50's) bronze Orin (singing bowl). All hand hammered by a master artisan.

Includes cushion and striker (red lacquer base not included).

This style of bowl is favored by Japanese Buddhist sects for is low mellow tone. Often used to begin and end meditation sessions or when praying at the family alter. It measures 15" in diameter and stands 11" tall. With exception to some signs of use with scratches and minor chipping to surface black, this bronze remains in good condition.

The tone resonates for over 1 minute when struck firmly.
